To start his second week, Trump doubled down on his “America first” rhetoric by suspending all refugee admissions for 120 days, preventing admission of any Syrian refugees indefinitely, and  almost completely shutting down any immigration from seven majority-Muslim countries. He took the iconic words “Give me your tired your poor…” and kicked them to the curb while giving the middle finger to the rest of the world..seeming to think this will make us more safe.

Trump seems determined to take the worst towns in the Rust Belt, combine them with the highest crime areas in our cities, and present that as a picture of what America is really like. Either he doesn’t get out much, doesn’t believe the evidence of an economic recovery, or needs to build a bogey man so he can portray himself as the savior. I’ll go with the latter.

#alternativefacts is all over social media, but what about the mentality of the guy behind it all? This was all triggered because Trump could not abide the idea that his inauguration was not as well attended as Obama’s. He had to call a special news conference to refute the idea with “alternative facts”.  This is the tough guy; this is the strong man…with a very fragile ego.
